Central Virginia Community College (CVCC) http://www.cv.cc.va.us/ is part of the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) and severs the central Virginia area. It opened in 1967 in Lynchburg and has expanded to locations in Bedford, Alta Vista, Brookneal, and Appomattox.

CVCC offers Associate Degrees and Certificates of Completion in a variety of disciplines. The quality of education is extraordinary while the costs are reasonable. Students can choose a style from day, evening, weekend, and distance learning classes. Distance learning classes can be completed in pint of via the internet.

CVCC also offers career study classes, offering education to provide a work force for local business. Having a need for well-educated workforce, many local companies have partnered with CVCC to open the Advanced Manufacturing Technology Education Center to address their needs for a highly skilled workforce.
